India’s Manushi Chhillar Wins Miss World 2017
Manushi Chhillar brings back home the Miss World crown after 17 whole years. Ms. Chhillar is the sixth Indian woman to win the title of Miss World. Reita Faria was the first Indian woman to claim the title back in 1966, followed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 1994, Diana Haydon in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999 and Priyanka Chopra in 2000.
After winning the title of fbb Colors Femina Miss India World 2017, Haryana girl Manushi Chhillar is busy traveling across cities for her work commitments. A few weeks back, the beauty queen was in Rajasthan’s biggest city, Jaipur. “Jaipur is a lovely city and I spent almost a month here when I was preparing for the crown. In fact, I have been here many times, on school trips as well with my parents,” Manushi says.
Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state. Popularly known as the “pink city” due to the distinct color of its buildings, it is not difficult to fall in love with Jaipur. The city is also very popular for its fascinating monuments and colorful bazaars. It is also known for its gorgeous handloom garments and wonderfully laid-out gardens. “My school trip to Jaipur was the most memorable one as I tried many things and saw many monuments for the first time”, says Manushi sharing an interesting anecdote. The Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Albert Hall Museum and the Rambagh Palace are the most popular tourist destinations in Jaipur, which the new Miss World might definitely have visited.
The magnificent city is also home to few of India’s forts that showcase old age architecture. Few of them are the Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort, and the Nahargarh Fort. If anything spells luxury, The Gem Palace in Jaipur is it. From contemporary designs in 18-carat gold to Rajasthani-Mughal pieces for the traditionally inclined. From cuffs to sherwani and tuxedo buttons to walking sticks with bejeweled handles, the Gem Palace has it all! Rajasthan is also most famous for its food and age-old recipes for sweets.
Manushi, who confessed she has a sweet tooth, also tried her favorite Rajasthani sweets fine and ghewar. “I had some amazing sweets. But Rajasthani spices are something I can’t handle that easily. Trying Mirchi vada was like an achievement for me as it’s too spicy!” Manushi exclaims. The above list is just a small glimpse at the city’s royal heritage. After winning the title of Miss India, the 20-year-old went further and bagged the title of Miss World 2017. The 67th Miss World pageant was hosted in China and Manushi claims to have had a very good time there. “I love to travel and exploring China will definitely be one of the most amazing experiences of my life”, she said.
China is a populous nation in East Asia whose vast landscape encompasses grassland, desert, mountains, lakes, rivers and more than 14,000km of coastline. It boasts a large number of wonderful attractions including antique sites and relics, imposing imperial palaces, delicate water towns, amazing natural wonders, splendid cultural heritage, and diversified folk customs.
Chhillar at the opening ceremony of Miss World 2017 visited one of the beautiful mountains of China. She was on top of the Yellow Mountain or Huangshan, Fujian — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ‘Its spectacular natural scenery includes oddly-shaped pines and rocks, and mystical seas of cloud,’ she wrote on Instagram. Manushi also visited the Wuzhizhou Coral Island. It is in an irregular butterfly-like shape and has a total coastline of 3.54 miles.
China ranks third as a tourist destination country after France and the US. But if Hong Kong and Macau are included, then China is the world’s number one tourist destination. What are you waiting for? Book your tickets now!
The new Miss World is passionate about paragliding, bungee jumping, and horse riding. It is also being predicted that Manushi will be taking trips to places like Cameroon and Ethiopia.
Located on the Gulf of Guinea, Cameroon is an African country famous for its sultry mosaic of active volcanoes, white-sand beaches, thick rainforest and magnificent parched landscapes. It is often referred to as the heart of Africa and the moment you set foot in the country, it becomes clear that you are at the very epicenter of this fascinating continent. It also boasts some of the richest and most diverse wildlife in the continent and is a dreamland for safari lovers, eco-tourists, hikers and culture seekers. Shoppers can also take a stop in Yaoundé and Douala for some African souvenirs.
Mount Cameroon, Doual’art, Benedictine Museum of Mont-Febe, the National Museum of Cameroon, Reunification Monument and Cascadas de Ekom Nkam Waterfall are some of the must-visit places in Cameroon. This country also houses a few UNESCO World Heritage sites like The Waza National Park and Dja Wildlife Reserve that are worth a visit.
Tourism in the miniature Africa is fast growing. Tourists from all over the world are flocking to this country to witness its beautiful sights. Book your flights now!
Popularly known as ‘the horn of Africa’, Ethiopia is a place of ancient culture. The country has been praised for its outstanding natural beauty, dramatic landscapes, and ancient culture, thus making it World’s best tourism destination for 2015. Few of the best Ethiopian attractions include feeding Hyenas with your mouth, African safaris, and a real-world Camelot. It also has the museum that houses the oldest humanoid in the world, Lucy. Bahar Dar also gives one the access to the Blue Nile Falls which are a bit smaller than Niagara Falls, but very scenic. Lalibela, the 2nd Jerusalem is a must-see for the attractions in Ethiopia.
Ethiopia’s excellent network of national parks, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and other tourist attractions makes it a to-go place for all. My recommendation to all would be to visit at the earliest!
