U.S President Donald Trump’s daughter and advisor, Ivanka Trump recently visited India to participate in the Global Entrepreneur Summit. India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also flew to Hyderabad to inaugurate the event along with Ivanka. This Summit mainly focused on women entrepreneurs with the theme of “Women First, Prosperity for All”.
Tennis champion Sania Mirza, Google’s Vice President of Next Billion Users Diana Louise Patricia Layfield, CEO of Afghan Citadel Software Company Roya Mahboob, Miss India Manushi Chhillar and Actress Aditi Rao were few of the females that visited this Summit and voices their opinion at various plenaries and breakout sessions.
This Summit was hosted for the first time in South East Asia and out of all cities in India, Hyderabad was the chosen one. The choice of Hyderabad as a venue to host the event is significant as the city is a major tech hub; home to a large number of US firms including giants like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple and Uber and a robust startup ecosystem. The city also boasts of Information Technology Hub, India’s largest startup capital.
The government of India hosted a dinner for the U.S Presidents advisor at the Taj Falaknuma Palace Hotel, thus making it the first place Ivanka visited in Hyderabad. Previously the residence of the Nizam of Hyderabad, Falaknuma is lauded as one of the most expensive and beautiful palace hotels in India.
Entirely built out of marble, the incomparable palace boasts of large Venetian chandeliers, rare furniture, and grand marble staircases. It also prides itself on having the world’s largest dining table, priceless statues, a world-class collection of crystals and artworks. It is known for its Mughal, Rajasthani and Japanese gardens personally conceived by the Nizam. Here, at the Hyderabad’s pièce de résistance, one can experience the Nizami grandeur.
After being enthralled by the Falaknuma Palace, Ivanka headed to Hyderabad’s famous Golconda Fort on Wednesday. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most magnificent fortress complexes in India. Golconda boasts of mounted cannons, four drawbridges, eight gateways, and majestic halls, magazines and stables.
Ivanka played the excited chirpy tourist as she walked around the 16th century Fort and also clicked pictures. She gleefully clapped her hands at the ‘clapping portico’. Clapping your hand here at a certain point near the dome entrance reverberates which is heard clearly at the hilltop pavilion, almost one kilometer away. The fort gains an impressive place among the architectural marvels and heritage structures of India and is a testimony to Hyderabad’s glorious past.
The businesswoman and daughter of the U.S president were also very keen on visiting the global icon of Hyderabad, the Charminar. Situated in the heart of the old city in Hyderabad, Charminar is the most searched historical site of the city on Google.
It was built 400 years ago and its design is inspired by the shapes of Shia Tazias built to commemorate the tragic death of Prophet Muhammed’s grandson, Hussain at the battle of Karbala. The structure is a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture with ample Persian influences. There are two galleries inside the Charminar – one over the other. The main gallery has 45 musallah or prayer spaces opening up to an uncovered space. Legend has it that an underground tunnel connects the Charminar with the Golkonda fort. As Charminar is located in the densely populated and traffic prone area of Hyderabad, Ivanka’s visit was canceled on security grounds.
